We have been house-sitting almost continuously since November 2022. We work full-time from anywhere on our laptops. In Edinburgh school holidays, our adult daughter, a violin teacher and traditional musician, sometimes likes to join us on a house-sit.
From 2008 to 2021, we had a lovely Scottish Border Collie, who did 155 Munros with us, dying of cancer not long before we completed our Munros. In March 2021 we moved to near Spean Bridge. When we're at home, we stay in our cabin in the woods, but most of the time we're house-sitting, while we investigate building a house (waiting for a water servitude). We love animals (we are vegan), and are happy to look after animals that are new to us. We've looked after dogs, hens, llamas, sheep, ducks, geese, parakeets and feral and domestic cats. We like to go up Corbetts one day at weekends. so our ideal house-sit is near hills with either a fit dog or pets that we can leave for some hours.
Our hobbies are hillwalking and long walks, occasionally cycling and ski-touring, and reading. We prefer good wifi and/or reliable 4G, but if need be, a visit to a nearby cafe with wifi can tide us over. Sometimes one of us goes away for an in-person meeting (usually in Edinburgh), and the other one stays at the house-sit, but usually we're both at the house-sit.
Cathy and Andy were fabulous house sitters. We returned to a lovely clean and tidy house and a very happy dog. They had taken Lilah on some fantastic adventures. All communication was swift. Great sitters!
Cathy & Andy are a charming engaging couple who provided the the best care for our pets and security for our home. This is our first experience of housesitting and felt confident our home and pets were in such good hands.

Cathy and Andy looked after our boys for one week in April. The boys were looked after really well, our house was looked after too. We would have Cathy and Andy back “in a heart beat” our boys were very happy to spend the time with them.
This was our first request on HSUK and luckily we found Cathy and Andy to look after the four cats and our home. Communication from day one was excellent and following a WhatsApp chat we confirmed the dates. The four of us spent a pleasant evening sorting out what to do etc before leaving the next morning. Cathy sent a daily photo of our little family, always appreciated, also keeping us up to date. We hope to see Cathy and Andy here again.
We were very impressed with Cathy and Andy and can only recommend them for housesits! They kept our dog Eddie happy and even took him on hiking trips which he loves so much. The house was kept in order and Cathy sent daily photos which have put us at ease. Great experience! Thanks Cathy and Andy!
Cathy, Andy and daughter Isla were perfect sitters for both creatures and home in every respect. We shared time and food together at different 'overlap' points, and found many areas of mutual interest and connection. All the animals were looked after with all the care and kindness one could wish for., Andy and Cathy also overlapped with some other sitters with great communication and flexibility. The house was both sparkling and welcoming for our return.
With a house sitter looking after your pets, house and garden - you can really relax. Happy days.
